EMPLOYEE0Each flash player may take a different configuration options. It is best to check the documentation that came with your flash player for specific instructions.
Below is an example of how to configure JW Player by Long Tail Video to stream from Helix Server.
Setting up JW Player Flash client
After downloading the player onto your web server or into the /Content/clients folder on Helix Server, follow the link on JWPlayer's readme.html page to their Setup Wizard.
To point the player to your stored flash media files on Helix Server, use the following parameters:
1: Select an Example Setup
From the drop down box, Choose 'flvplayer with rtmp stream'
2: Change your Flashvars
source: Enter the URL to your JWPlayer install. http ://helixserveraddress/clients/jwplayer/player.swf
file: enter the file name of your media file that resides in your flash directory.
streamer: enter the URL to your flash mount point. The is the sample streamer for on demand content
streamer: enter the URL to your flash mount point. This is the sample streamer for live content from Helix Producer using Helix Push Server delivery
Click the 'Update Preview & Code' button
3: Preview Your Player
You should see your sample player embeded into the web page. If you click the play button, you will be streaming the file via Helix Server. If you are not able to view your sample video, double check the path and file names of your jwplayer and your media file. Also, make sure your Helix Server is running.
4: Copy Your Code
Click on the 'use the embed code' link above the code box. Copy and paste this code into your web page
Here is an example of the jwplayer generated object embed code:
<object classid='clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000' width='470' height='290' id='single1' name='single1'>
<param name='movie' value='http://helixserveraddress/clients/jwp...;
<param name='allowfullscreen' value='true'>
<param name='allowscriptaccess' value='always'>
<param name='wmode' value='transparent'>
<param name='flashvars' value='file=Venice.flv&streamer=rtmp://helixserveraddress/flash'>
It looks like the file/url to play gets hardcoded on the page. Does Helix have any way to feed this in dynamically?
So in effect...
would bring up the player page, which parses the querystring to get the Venice url to play.
Is there a different way to have one player and many files?
